STEVEN R. GRAVES, AIA
Owner / Principal
Steve is originally from Oxford, Indiana – a small farming community that epitomizes “small town America”. Present day, he is a Lexington-based architect, and an Owner/Principal at Graves Architects & Planners, PLLC. Steve utilizes his 40+ years of experience to lead all of the firm’s public and private sector projects including luxury residential, single and multi-family housing, retail, hospitality, corporate, commercial, and mixed-use developments.
Since graduating from the University of Kentucky, College of Design with a Bachelor of Architecture degree in 1974, Steve has enjoyed a robust professional career. His resume includes founding a local architectural firm, Graves, Sherman, Carter; serving as the Director of Design for the multi-billion dollar Webb Companies; partnering in Mims, Graves and Turner Development Company; owning Steven R. Graves Architects; co-founding Murphy+Graves Architects, PLLC and finally launching Graves Architects & Planners, PLLC in 2015.
Steve has transformed the lives and operations of countless individuals, businesses and organizations through thoughtful and intentional design. Some of his most notable work includes projects for the Cathedral of Christ the King, WinStar Farm, Keeneland and several high profile individual custom residences, as well as a myriad of other developments throughout the Bluegrass. Through more than four decades of practice, his professional approach remains the same – architecture is rooted in people, thus our purpose is to enhance lives using the built environment - which is what he an his team do on every project.
